Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Round, hammered sheet with the representation of Gorgon in the center. The daemonic winged figure, in long, girdled light tunic (chiton), will have been represented as Mistress of animals, perhaps holding a lion with each hand. The sheet would decorate the pediment of a small temple. Found in the Acropolis of Athens. About the middle of the 7th-century BC. Exhibit in the National Archaelogical Museum of Athens, inv. number 13050.
