Dena’ina name: ‘Nut’aq’I tl’ila’ “Goose’s rope” (Outer and Upper Cook Inlet dialect) Characteristics: Goose tongue is a flowering herb. Leaves are narrow, fleshy, and v-shaped in cross section with ribs. Both leaves and stem arise from the base. It has small, fused, greenish-brown to reddish flowers on the upper part of the flowering stem. The leaves and seeds are edible raw or cooked. Height 10-30 cm (0.3-1 ft). Habitat: Abundant along the coastal region of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.
