Summary[edit]

Description
  • English: Wilhelm von Gloeden (1856-1931), Two naked youths, one of them holding a calla-lily and wearing a Northern-African hat. Catalogue number: 0774. Since a detail taken from this image was engraved in Gleeson White, "On photographing the nude", The photogram, 1894, p. 85, this image and others from the same set can be dated before 1894. This is then one of the first experiments with the nude by Gloeden, either in Abruzzo or in Capri and Naples. This shot was also printed, captioned "Unter Südlichem Himmel" ("Under Southern sky") on "Die Schoenheit", I 1903, p. 617.
