Glass Blowers
Description
Men with glass-blowing equipment inflate molten glass (background glow) to produce items of glassware. Two women are watching at lower right. This photogravure (by Goupil & Co.) was published in New York and was based on an 1886 painting by American artist Charles Frederic Ulrich (1858-1908). Titled "Glass Blowers of Murano," this painting dates from the period when Ulrich had established a home in Venice, Italy. Murano glass is produced on the Venetian island of Murano.
