The Glacier Point Hotel featured an enormous double-sided fireplace carved from a local boulder.

Summary[edit]

Description
English: A marvel of its era, the Glacier Point Hotel, built at 7,240 feet (2,210 m) above sea level, was renowned as the highest hotel in the West. Its unique features included striking views and an enormous double-sided fireplace. This central piece, carved from a local boulder, weighed an astounding 2,462,000 pounds (1,117,000 kg) - comparable to the amount of granite required to build a six-room house.
