Summary

[edit]
Description This Gitxsan Euro-Canadian pole is made of yellow cedar, yew, maple, mahogany, copper and abalone. Called "Shaking the Crown Bone," it was made by Eric Roberston in 2000 and was purchased with financial support from the Canadian Council for the Arts. This object measures 259 cm by 49 cm. Lahal, or the 'bone game,' is an ancient and contemporary practice which relies on non-verbal signals and gestures and brings people together. Its UBC Museum of Anthropology catalogue number is Nb7.346 a-b in Vancouver, Canada.
