Description
English: In July 1891 “Gioacchino Giojoso e Figlio” ran a confectionery at 44 Strada San Giuliano, in Senglea. This fine receipt is found among the acts of Notary Gio:Battista Saydon.

The items listed therein are interesting in themselves They give us a small picture of the tastes of the Maltese at the end of the nineteenth century. Furthermore the receipt clearly shows that the firm had already been in business for a century since 1791.

A close look at one of the entries gives “servitori e trasporto @ 4s”, which shows that the firm did home deliveries as well.
