Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Black cloth patch with a white, machine-embroidered, rounded swastika symbol, used as a uniform distinction (collar patch) by Germanic SS Norway (Germanske SS Norge, GSSN), a German military unit of Norwegian volunteers established in German-occupied Norway during World War II in July 1942. The organization was subordinate to the Nazi Party's Germanic SS, but also affiliated with Quisling's Norwegian fascist party Nasjonal Samling (NS). GSSN had over 1200 members in 1944.
  • Foreign volunteers in the Germanic SS were equipped with German Schutzstaffel (SS) uniforms. Members of GSSN were provided with black uniforms dating back to the 1930s from the Allgemeine SS, but the SS runes on the collar tab on the right lapel were replaced with a "sunwheel symbol," a combination of NS's sun cross and the Nazis' swastika.
  • Brightened photo from the Falstad Center, Norway.
GSSN hadde over 1200 medlemmer i 1944.
