Albrizzi, who inherited his business from his father, was part of a family active in publishing and bookselling in Venice for 150 years. He played an important role in the intellectual life of the city and edited a weekly bulletin, Novelle della Repubblica delle Lettere (News from the republic of letters), which reviewed and commented on books published throughout Europe.
