NAVFAC Midwest architect Geoffrey Malia with Public Works Department Great Lakes was named winner of the Outstanding Professional Employee category at the annual Chicago Federal Executive Board's Federal Employee of the Year awards May 6. The award program covers more than 55,000 federal employees who work for 43 agencies in an 11-county metropolitan area near Chicago. Geoff, the sole architect and community planner in PWD Great Lakes' asset management branch, was recognized for his outstanding development and efficient management of facilities information here at Great Lakes. His efforts have ensured that the base receives the maintenance and construction funding it needs. He serves as the community planner for short- and long-term development on base, including the PWD's demolition program and individual construction projects planned for the next 10 years. Those projects range in size from $500,000 to $68 million, as well as the ongoing $92-million Great Lakes Steam Decentralization project. Geoff's cooperation with the multitude of functional users on the installation is exemplary. His knowledge of facilities, his initiative to resolve the needs of our supported commands, and his collaborative approach cultivate an environment that gets results. Well done! |
