| Description |
English: At the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva, New York, a food market and attached restaurant operated by the Taste NY program offer visitors a chance to sample a wide range of argicultural products and prepared foods sourced from around New York State. Built in 2018 as a $5 million redevelopment and expansion of the existing City of Geneva Visitor Center, this is one of eleven such regional information centers located throughout the state as a NYSDOT-spearheaded initiative to promote tourism and local businesses. Themed throughout on the plentiful "wine and water" that characterize the Finger Lakes region, the retro exterior is best described as a modernized take on Arts & Crafts architecture, while the even more impressive interior is the collaborative work of numerous design firms from around the local area. The Taste NY market in particular includes a rustic Douglas fir trellis by Pioneer Millworks of Farmington, New York, who additionally finished the interior walls in reclaimed wood planks. Aside from the Taste NY market and the usual slate of tourist information, amenities for visitors include historical and cultural exhibits, a maritime-themed playground for kids, a waterfront patio that doubles as a pleasant event space, and - as at the other welcome centers - a selfie-ready I♥NY sculpture overlooking the lake.
