Description
English: US Army Corps of Engineers General Plan of Harbor Improvement Playa del Rey Inlet & Harbor Plan USACE No. 2255-A June 1959 superimposed on aerial photograph of the areas at the beginning of the operation. Marina del Rey Main Channel and future Basins A through H can be seen. 3.8 Million Cubic Years of dredge material will be deposited on the "landfills east of harbor": F-14, F-10, F-12, F-9, F-11, and F-13. These areas were mostly farmland - they were not historic wetland areas. The shadow of the Playa del Motordrome can also be seen in the fill area F-14 (aka CDFW "Area "). Thousands of autos, two railroad spurs, grandstands, garages, gasoline, and oil – from 1910 to 1913 when it burned down.
