Notes Beschreibung aus Karl Woermanns Galeriekatalog 1887: Caritas. Die Liebe als Mutter mit drei Kindern. Links unter Gebüsch liegt die junge Frau in grauem Rock, halbaufgerichtet, nach rechts gewandt, auf rotem Tuche. Mit ihrer Rechten umfasst sie das jüngste Kind an ihrer Brust, mit ihrer Linken reicht sie dem ältesten, welches von rechts herbeigelaufen kommt, einen Apfel; das mittlere schlummert an ihren Knieen. Im Hintergrunde offene Landschaft. Leinwand; h. 1,19½ m; br. 1,99 m
