| Description |
Deutsch: Gaisbergtunnel (Westportal, erb. 1859/1862) in Heidelberg am Adenauerplatz. Bis 1955 fuhr hier die Odenwaldbahn, der 312 m lange Tunnel wird seit 1962 als Straßentunnel genutzt. Die unmittelbar an das Bauwerk anschließende denkmalgeschützte Villa aus dem 19. Jh. ruht auf den spätmittelalterlichen Festungsanlagen der Heidelberger Vorstadt.
English: Gaisbergtunnel (west portal, built in 1859/1862) in Heidelberg at the Adenauerplatz. The Odenwaldbahn ran here until 1955, and since 1962 there has been a road tunnel to the Friedrich-Ebert facility. The immediately adjacent listed villa from the 19th century rests on the late medieval fortifications of the Heidelberg suburb. |
