Summary[edit]

Description

Fashion photograph of Gail Patrick

  • Photograph appears as part of a promotion for the new Fall and Winter Pattern Book available for 15 cents from the The Washington Star. Caption of this photograph reads as follows:
Pattern 3095. AFTERNOON FROCK. Smart in every detail, this stunning frock, worn by Gail Patrick of Paramount Films, features a novel halter effect shirred to the collar and fastened inthe back. The waist underneath is completed in one piece, so the frock may be worn with or without the halter. Satin-back crepe or silk crepe or velvet are appropriate materials. Pattern is designed for sizes 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20. Corresponding bust measurements 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38. Size 14 (32) requires 4.1/4 yards of 39-inch fabric.
  • Gail Patrick amended the standard Paramount contract before she signed it. "I also read the fine print and blacked out the clause saying I had to do cheesecake stills," she recalled in a 1979 interview. "In the back of my mind I had this idea I could never go home to practice law if such stills were floating around." She instead appears in fashion photographs such as this.
