Summary[edit]
DescriptionG. Webb Daf CF Sludge Removal at Essex Wharf. Lee Navigation, Lea Bridge, E5, Apr 2009.jpg |
English: Currently used as a trans-shipment dock for dredged sludge from the canal. Waltham Forest planning application no 2007/2341 relating to this site - Essex Wharf, Lea Bridge Road, E5 9RL comprising demolition of this old but modified warehouse and erection of three blocks of up to seven stories high, with 167 flats, - was turned down on 11 Sept 2008 for quite obvious reasons, i.e. a poor quality high density development which did nothing to reduce car dependency. Good for LBWF. Good also for LB of Hackney which formally objected to it.
But they will be back. Full decision here, pp5-7. In the background, the development on the former Lathams Timber yard is looking quite good as it is not too greedy over the waterfront. Since developed with housing. |
