Description
Deutsch: Das Bild illustriert eine Szene aus der “Geschichte des Königs Omar und seiner Söhne“. Der 20-jährige Prinz Scharrkan, ein heldenhafter Recke und Sohn des Königs Omar von Bagdad, gerät bei einem Feldzug an ein Wadi, in dem sich ein Kloster und eine Burg befinden. In der Nacht bei hellem Mondlicht beobachtet der Prinz, mit voller Rüstung angetan, wie sich am Ufer eines Baches junge Mädchen mit Ringkampf vergnügen. Das bezauberndste all dieser Mädchen ist Prinzessin Abrise, Tochter des Königs Hardub von Rum, die alle anderen Mädchen bezwingt. Daraufhin wird sie von ihrer Großmutter, der Herrin Zat ed-Dawahi zum Kampf herausgefordert, die darauf besteht, dass beide nackt und nur mit einem Tuch umschlungen miteinander ringen.
Das Bild entspricht folgender Textstelle auf Seite 145:
„Flugs glitt das Mädchen unter die Alte, griff mit der Linken das Tuch, umschlang mit der Rechten Hals und Nacken und hob sie also mit beiden Händen empor. Und da die Alte sich loszureißen versuchte, kam sie auf den Rücken zu liegen,...“
