| Description |
Freemont Street is in downtown Las Vegas. The famous "strip" with hotels & casinos is two miles or more from here. At this location there was/is some of the original hotels/casinos that made the city famous some time ago, such as Binion's Horseshoe, Eldorado Club, Fremont Hotel and Casino, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Golden Nugget, Four Queens, The Mint, and the Pioneer Club. Freemont street has got a canopy running over it that produces an impressive light show several times each evening. It's called the Freemont Street Experience and draws crowds each night. Many famous films have been shot here, at least in part. For example the 1964 Elvis Presley film Viva Las Vegas; The 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever where a car is run down an alley on two wheels, exiting onto Freemont Street; in the 1990's Honey, I Blew Up the Kid and the 2007 film Next, has Nicolas Cage's character entering the Golden Nugget from the Fremont Street Experience.
