Description

Postcard of shop front of R.P. Young, Mortimer Street, Herne Bay, Kent. The photographer was Fred C. Palmer of Tower Studio, Herne Bay, Kent, who is believed to have died 1936-1939.

Points of interest
  • Herne Bay is surrounded by farmland and pasture, and much of the meat would be locally sourced.
  • Although the bicycles would be for town deliveries, people happily walked 10 miles in those days, so deliveries further than 10 miles by bicycle were not unlikely.
