Summary[edit]

Description
English: Creator: Unidentified.

Location: Mount Aird, Papua New Guinea.
Description: Frank Hurley took photographs during his expedition to Papua New Guinea and the Islands of the Torres Strait between 1920 and 1923. Inscription written on the back of photograph reads; 'Captain Hurley taking cinema films from the summit of Mount Aird. In [the] background lies the Delta of Kikori River'. Hurley worked with both still and movie cameras. He made the film, 'Pearls and Savages', after his trip to Papua New Guinea and many of the still photographs were used to promote the film.
