Cambridge May 12th /48
Dearest papa,
Perhaps you have already had the happiness of greeting Mary – if so, give her a thousand kisses for me – at your leisure! I should have felt more nervous about the storm Wednesday night if I had thought her likely to be so near land, - but trust she will arrive, or has, arrived, safely with all her treasures &c
I got nothing from Tom [p. 2] and have been hoping a letter had gone on to you. I forgot to write him by our steamer, but sent a letter to New York, enclosing Ronny’s note, for Wednesday’s – Miss Porter went in the one from here, & perhaps he will see her, but the sad events of the week kept me from calling upon her.
Is Harriet invited to Miss Ruggles’ wedding visit? I am an, if she sees any of the family, may thank them [p. 3] for the politeness –
Em is waiting for fair weather to go to Geneseo – from day to day, but I shall insist upon her waiting now to see Mary. I shall go in town tomorrow (Saturday) I hope to find you all comfortably arrived!
With Henry’s love
ever thy aff
Fanny L.
Mary Chadwicks engagement to young Brooks is the last news – except Pierce Butlers!!
