Manuscript letter

Dear Annie,
I fervently trust your heart & hope will bear you through the trial before you – need I say how much my thoughts & prayers are with you & dear Mother-
I wish Henry could have reached Portland yesterday. He just missed the opportunity as he will tell you, but I trust will be in time to comfort you & his father – Have you written to Andover to anticipate Mary’s arrival? I will today in case [p. 2] you have not. I hope she has arrived. She must be near - Charley & Erny send a kiss to Grandpapa & are “very sorry he is so ill.” They have been writing imaginary letters to him for some days to express their sympathy. He had planned to visit you this June but I feared the childrens noise would be too much for father in his feeble state, & yet that he might be troubled to have us under another roof. God be with you
Yr loving
Fanny.
Tuesday.
