Sunday ev’g
May 14th /48
Dear Annie,
Delays & more delays in the sailing of the Cahota! After reporting, two or three days ago, what Mr Austin told me, on Saturday I went down to make a personal survey. I could not find the Captain nor the owner, but I found the ship, & found that her cargo was not yet taken in, & that it is still [p. 2] quite uncertain when she will sail. Therefore, if Stephen has not already started, he better remain quietly where he is until I write again. I will see both the Captain & owner, in the course of a day or two, & learn all that can be learned about the matter.
Dear Annie where are the lamps? Their arrival has not yet been announced by telegraph or otherwise.
All well – Hope you are also ever affly thine
Henry –
[p. 3] If Stephen has already left for Boston, when this reaches you, you can use your own discretion about communicating its contents to his mother.
Love to all –
