Accesssion: 2014.010.001 Fragment, Metal, USS Preble DLG-15 A fragment of metal from the Preble's tower and a piece of shrapnel. The Preble served as plane guard for aircraft carriers in the Tonkin Gulf. On January 24th 1973 she was fired on by North Vietnamese forces near to the demilitarized zone sustaining damage. These pieces were taken from the ship. Collection of Curator Branch: Naval History and Heritage Command. |
