Description
English: The 34-gun Spanish frigate Mahonesa under Captain Tomás de Ayalde. Towards the second half of the 18th century, single-deck ships, known as modern frigates, became popular. These were used for tasks similar to the heavier ships of the line, but with a fraction of their cost and greater navigability.
Español: Hacia la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII se popularizaron los buques de un solo puente, conocidos como fragatas modernas. Estos servían para tareas similares a los navíos de línea, más pesados, pero con una fracción de su costo y una mayor navegabilidad.
