English: Handwritten on verso: Bengairn 4 m. bark This bark was built by Robert Duncan & Co., Glasgow. From 1890 to 1906 she was owned by Gibson & Clark of Glasgow and named PASS OF BRANDER. In 1906 she was bought by J.J. Rae & Co. of Liverpool, and renamed BENGAIRN, and captained by J.S. Learmont. The BENGAIRN was sunk on April 1st, 1916, by a German U-Boat (U-28) en-route from Seattle to Queenstown with a cargo of wheat. There were no casualties. |
