Summary

English: Forestry Land This plantation of Norway Spruce trees has been partly felled. Trees planted round the verge of a plantation develop a stronger rooting system than those living sheltered lives in the middle. Some of the newly exposed remaining trees had shallow roots and have been blown over in gales.
Very few plants will grow in the dense shade of a coniferous plantation, but since the nearer trees have been felled, rushes, grass, foxgloves and other plants are colonising what was previously a desert. |
