Borage is a native wild plant, highlyornamental in its appearance, bearing alarge number of brilliant blue flowers inthe delightful months of June and July.It is not by any means unfrequent amongrubbish and in waste places. The formercommon locality and the beauty of theflower ha 70 led to the supposition that theplant has been naturalized, and hence thatthose specimens which we meet with onour roadsides and bye-lanes are strag-glers from the garden. The whole plantis clothed with rough hairs, whence ithas been made the emblem of bluntness.It was, and in some countries is still, verymuch valued in certain diseases, and thepossession of these qualities makes us over-look its roughness.
