Summary[edit]

Description

December 27, 2010.

"The connection between the IDF and the Italian Army is important and based on shared values. Italy is a close friend of Israel and constitutes one of the most involved forces in the area. The Italian forces are present in UNIFIL and in Afghanistan, and their contribution to the war against terror is vast."

Thus said the IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, during his meeting with his colleague, the Chief of Defense Staff of Italy, General Vincenzo Camporini, who is currently visiting Israel.

General Camporini was greeted Monday at the Rabin Military Base by an honor guard of IDF soldiers and received several security and strategic briefings. During his visit General Camporini will tour Jerusalem, particularly the Old City and the "Yad Vashem" Museum.
