DescriptionFlickr - Israel Defense Forces - 161st Flight School Graduation Ceremony, December 2010.jpg |
December 31, 2010. Yesterday (Thursday) was the 161st Flight School graduation ceremony in which the new Israeli Air Force pilots and navigators recieved their 'wings', in an elaborate ceremony which was attended by the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres, the Minister of Defense, Mr. Ehud Barak, the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, the Commander of the Israeli Air Force, Maj. Gen. Ido Nechushtan, as well as the family and friends of the Flight School graduates. The IAF Flight School is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious and challenging paths to take in the IDF, and its graduates are an elite few who have passed three years of grueling tests as cadets, including earning a Bachelor's degree from Ben Gurion University and an officer rank of Lieutenant in order to become pilots and navigators. Pictured here: The soon-to-be course graduates march in the Flight School graduation ceremony, which will induct them as pilots and navigators in the Israeli Air Force. Among the graduates are three females, one of whom will be a combat navigator, and the other two who will be pilots. |
