rped rock which is onthe north side of the church, stands the Chapel of St. Bernard, aseventeenth-century structure, which replaced the ancient one beforementioned ; near it, lower down, was the L^proserie, or Maison desPestiferes. Above the Abbots garden rises the rock whencemost of the stone for the buildings was taken ; it was cut intoterraces, laid out as gardens, and named the amphitheatre.There was a reservoir for feeding the fountains, a tannery, astable, and a gi-ange.
