A white flagstaff atop a concrete base with a short staircase, on top of a small grassy knoll.

The flagstaff at Stones River National Cemetery marks a high point in the burial area of the cemetery and serves as a focal point of the Lincoln Square area of the landscape. It was added in 1888 to replace an original wooden flagstaff.
