Description
Philatelic First Day Cover Cachet and stamp depict the Japanese nuclear ship, Mutsu, and a structural diagram of an atom. The Mutsu was originally built as a nuclear-powered general cargo ship in 1968, but never carried commercial cargo. The ship was rebuilt as the RV Mirai, a Japanese oceanographic research vessel in 1997.
