NASA image acquired May 20, 2011 Many fires are burning all throughout Mexico as seen (as red dots) in this image, taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite. The image shows conditions on May 20, 2011 at 19:55 UTC (3:55 p.m. EDT).The highest concentration of red dots and smoke can be seen along the southwest region. More than two dozen fires have mainly affected the cities of Benito Juarez, Lazaro Cardenas, Tulum, Othon P. Blanco, Solidaridad, Jose Maria Morelos and Bacalar, the Quintana Roo state government said, according to the EFE news agency. Image: NASA Goddard/Jeff Schmaltz, MODIS Rapid Response Team.
