Summary
[edit]DescriptionFirehole River, Yellowstone N.P. 9-11 (13784826103).jpg |
English: (1 in a multiple picture set) The Firehole River was named by John Colter who was the first white man to stumble upon this amazing place. The cold water river runs through the valley (or hole as the explorers called it), past hundreds of geysers spewing hot water. Some of it runs into the river, and you can see those spots in the picture where steam comes from the edge of the river. Colter was a trapper and explorer who, when he got back to civilization tried to explain this place of geysers to others and they wouldn't believe him. They laughed at him and called the spot 'Colter's Hell'. |
