Summary

[edit]
Description
English: «Boudoir doll. Director Josef Von Sternberg gave these dolls to Marlene Dietrich during the filming of Der blaue Engel (D, 1930). Decorative boudoir dolls were popular mascots at the time for flappers and modern young women. This doll can be seen in Der blaue Engel, Morocco (USA, 1930) and Dishonored (USA, 1931). Such boudoir dolls, which were sometimes produced to imitate the looks of movie stars, also appear in many other films of this period. The range of felt artist dolls that the Italian company Lenci produced also includes figures that reproduce folkloristic, colonial and racist stereotypes.»
Displayed at the Museum of Film and Television Berlin, Deutsche Kinemathek.
