A silver box with a large circular gauge on top, several dials, an on/off switch, and a large handle.

This instrument consists of a count rate meter and a paddle-like attachment referred to as a “pancake” GM detector. With a range of 0 to 100,000 counts per minute (CPM), this GM scans for beta and gamma contamination.
