Acer negundo - native; Alternate names: Ashleaf maple, red river maple; Blooms March - April; Although this species of maple has leaves very similar in shape to poison ivy, it will not cause a rash if touched. Unlike poison ivy, the leaves are not shiny. Mature trees have clusters of winged seeds in the summer called samaras or "helicopters."
