The fibula bears a runic inscription on the back side of its head plate: birl[i]n io elk. Photographed at the Römisches Museum Augsburg, Germany.
Deutsch: Die sogenannte Runenfibel von Nordendorf II. Gefunden 1844 in einem alamannischen Gräberfeld mit der archäologischen Datierung Mitte bis zweite Hälfte des 6. Jahrhunderts n. Chr. (vgl.
