Mein lieber Junge!
Gestern erhielt ich Deine Karte von Köln nachgeschickt. War baß erstaunt Dich im Altreich zu wissen. [Anmerk.: Nach dem „Anschluss Österreichs“ im März 1938, bezeichneten die deutschen Behörden das ursprüngliche Staatsgebiet des Deutschens Reichs in den Grenzen von 1937 als Altreich. ] Ich wünsch Dir jedenfalls alles Gute. ich selbst bin nun von Köln nach heirher dienstlich versetzt. Es gefällt mir außerordentlich, die gute Luft, die herrlichen Berge (für mich als passionierten Skifahrer besonders) die schönen Seen u. - die gute österr. Küche, weiters das Gefühl wieder in der Heimat zu sein, bloß 6 Stunden nach Graz zu haben usw. all das ist ein herrliches Gefühl, das schönste ist aber, daß die Heimat befreit ist u. daß man selbst ein ganz kleines,winzig kleines mitgeholfen, mitgearbeitet hat zum endgültigen Siege. Also Du bist von der HJ aus beim Landdienst. Lieber Kerl ich glaube es Dir, daß es schwer ist als von der Großstadt kommend, auf einmal beim Morgengrauen raus u. hundsmüde am Abend ins Bett. Es ist für Dich etwas ungewohntes, aber ich sag Dir [nur, beiß die Zähne zusammen]
