Русский: Данная карта, составленная Отто Францем фон Мёллендорфом (1848-1903 гг.), была выпущена в качестве одного из двух приложений к статье Мёллендорфа, написанной им в 1881 году для журнала, издаваемого Немецким географическим обществом. Мёллендорф был зоологом и сотрудником консульства Германии. Его особенно интересовали животные северного Китая и Центральной Азии. При составлении данной подробной карты, которая значительно расширила картографические знания о данном регионе, он использовал некоторые уже существующие карты — в частности, карты Адмиралтейства Великобритании, русского геофизика Германа Фритцше и военного офицера и ученого польско-русского происхождения Николая Пржевальского, а также результаты собственных исследований и наблюдений. Français : Cette carte réalisée par Otto von Franz Möllendorff (1848-1903) a été initialement publiée au titre d'une des deux annexes à un article de 1881 par Möllendorff dans la revue de la Société Géographique Allemande. Möllendorff était un zoologiste et officier consulaire allemand dont l'intérêt principal était les animaux de la Chine du nord et de l'Asie centrale. Il a utilisé plusieurs cartes existantes, telles que celles de l'Amirauté britannique, du géophysicien russe Hermann Fritsche, et celles de l'officier militaire et scientifique russo-polonais Nikolai Przewalski, ainsi que ses propres relevés et observations, pour produire cette carte très détaillée, qui a considérablement amélioré la connaissance cartographique de la région. La carte a été gravée par le cartographe allemand Richard Kiepert (1846-1915), fils du célèbre géographe Heinrich Kiepert (1818-99). Möllendorff was a zoologist and German consular official whose primary interest was the animals of northern China and Central Asia. He used a number of existing maps, such as those by the British Admiralty, the Russian geophysicist Hermann Fritsche, and the Polish-Russian military officer and scientist Nikolai Przewalski, as well as his own surveys and observations, to produce this highly detailed map–one that greatly expanded cartographic knowledge of the region. The map was engraved by the German cartographer Richard Kiepert (1846-1915), the son of the famed geographer Heinrich Kiepert (1818-99). Möllendorff was the brother of Paul Georg von Möllendorff (1847-1901), a famous German linguist and diplomat who was an adviser to the Korean king Kojong and the author of a system for romanizing the Manchu language.
