Klaksvík ist umgeben von hohen Bergen. Der direkt vorgelagerte Kunoyarfjall steht da wie ein Schutzwall gegen den Atlantik. Dieser pyramidenförmige Berg wurde mit der Zeit ein Symbol von Klaksvík. Er bildet das Grundmotiv der Briefmarke.

Ansonsten ist die Marke wie eine lyrische Kollage aufgebaut.

• Der Fisch symbolisiert die Wirtschaft, von der wir leben.
• Das Boot symbolisiert den Kontakt zur Außenwelt, besonders in früheren Tagen.
• Die Häuser am Berghang symbolisieren Heim und Wohlstand.
• Das Kind, das zum Mond und den Sterne schaut, symbolisiert das Suchende, Träumende und die Zukunft.

Ich habe sechs Sterne gezeichnet, es gibt sechs Nordinseln. Und das Wort Klaksvík mit der besonderen Schrift symbolisiert das Meer, an das wir alle gebunden sind.

Die Briefmarke ist politisch, wirtschaftlich und religiös unabhängig. Sie soll eher eine poetische Hommage an 100 Jahre Klaksvík sein.
