Description
Deutsch: Torus X konstant Y variabel
  • Beschreibung:
    • Wenn man annimmt, dass die Linien entlang des grösseren Umfanges nicht dehnbar sind, und die Linien entlang des kleineren Umfanges beliebig dehnbar sind, dann erhält man dieses Bild.
    • Die grünen Bereiche zeigen die auf der linken Aussenseite zusätzlich erforderlichen Flächen an.
    • Der Torus ist von drei Seiten sowohl als Aussenansicht, als auch als Innenansicht dargestellt. In der Bildmitte ist er von oben zu sehen, und darüber ist er als Schrägansicht abgebildet.
    • Ganz rechts im Bild befindet sich das massstabsgetreue, aber unverzerrte, Netz des Torus.
    • Ringdurchmesser = 1, Innendurchmesser = 2, Aussendurchmesser = 4, als Zahlenverhältnisse. Bei diesen Verhältnissen reicht die grüne Zone genau um den halben Aussenumfang. Ähnliche Strukturen entstehen, wenn man einen aufgerollten Teppich zum Ring verbiegen will.
