Summary[edit]
DescriptionFEMA - 19148 - Photograph by Jocelyn Augustino taken on 09-02-2005 in Louisiana.jpg |
English: New Orleans, LA, September 2, 2005 -- Neighborhoods and roadways throughout the area remain flooded as a result of the failure of the Federal levee system during Hurricane Katrina.
Air view with the Fountainbleau Hotel complex at bottom center. To right is Tulane Avenue running vertically. To left is Interstate 10 running diagonally towards Metaire. Carrollton Avenue runs vertically across the center. The small shopping center with the Mid-City Rock & Bowl can be seen across Carrollton & Tulane towards the upper right from the Fountainbleau. Beyond it up and to the right on the other side of the Lighting Store is the Crystal Hot Sauce Factory, which was so badly damaged in the flood that it was demolished soon after the city was reoccupied. The Carrollton Shopping Center seen to the far left of the photo near the bottom was also demolished. Greenwood Cemetery is seen in distance near upper right. Jocelyn Augustino/FEMA |
