Description
English: New Orleans, La, August 31, 2005 - National guardsmen, using a heavy-duty front loader, rescue four victims from the floodwaters left behind by Hurricane Katrina.. Rescuers used boats, trucks, forklifts and helicopters to bring people left stranded by the August 29 storm to safety. New Orleans is being evacuated as a result of floods and damage caused by the failure of the Federal levee system during Hurricane Katrina.
Location looks to be beside the inland part of the 17th Street Canal, probably people being gathered to the higher ground of Metairie Ridge from nearby flooded neighborhoods.
