Summary[edit]

Description A McDonnell F4H-1F (later F-4A) Phantom II fighter during trials on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Independence (CVA-62) in early 1960. Note the early-style smaller radome and flat aft cockpit. This may be the sixth production aircraft, BuNo 143391, which had a blown-flap system of boundary layer control, which was later adopted for production.
