DescriptionF-18Cs VFA-86 in flight 1995.JPEG | Ten U.S. Navy McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C Hornet fighters of strike fighter squadron VFA-86 Sidewinders flying in formation in Warning Area 158 off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida (USA), led by CDR John Noell, Commanding Officer of VFA-86. The squadron was homeported at NAS Cecil Field, Florida, and was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 1 (CVW-1) aboard the aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66). From 28 August 1995 to 24 February 1996 America made her last deployment before her decomissioning to the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian Ocean. |
