Summary[edit]

Description

Evening Grosbeaks Hesperiphona vespertina are a member of the finch family and can be found in coniferous and mixed forest across Canada and the western mountainous areas of the United States and Mexico.

They often travel in large flocks and delight birders everywhere with their habit of swooping in unexpectedly (in large flocks) for a feast of sunflower seeds or suet (their favourite foods). Perhaps due to their preference for group meals, they seem to prefer platform feeders.
