Description
English: In 2014-15 Big Brother Mouse conducted a randomized controlled evaluation of its daily reading program in Lao primary schools. This photo was taken during one of the before-and-after tests in schools used to compare reading levels in schools that got the program, with schools that did not. Such testing is rarely done, and the photo reveals one of several obstacles that the organization faced: What might go by different names in some countries is often seen as cooperation in Laos. This was already a known concern, however, so Big Brother Mouse gave comparable but different tests to children who were seated together.
