Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Eta Carinae is at least a double stellar system with a luminosity greater than five million times that of the Sun - Its brightness from Earth have had peaks in 1837 (Great Eruption) and in 1890 and is currently getting higher - Surrounded by the Homunculus Nebula, material ejected from the primary during the Great Eruption (two polar lobes aligned with the rotation axis of the star, plus an equatorial "skirt") - Its future evolution almost certainly involves further mass loss and an eventual supernova -
